Living in Portixol

Portixol lies east of the old town, right by the sea, and can be reached from the centre of Palma in around ten minutes. Once a small fishing harbour and part of Es Molinar, the neighbourhood has developed in recent years into one of the most sought-after waterside locations. The seafront promenade, numerous cafés and restaurants and the relaxed atmosphere shape its character. Portixol is especially popular with an international clientele who want to combine urban living with a direct seafront setting.

Daily life and getting around

Portixol is a former fishermen's quarter right on the water, east of the harbour. The small port with its painted boats, the promenade and the cafés along the shore road shape daily life. Supermarkets and doctors are towards Es Molinar.

The centre is ten minutes by bike on the continuous bayside cycle path, about 25 on foot. The bus runs along the shore road. The airport is ten minutes by car — the shortest link of any Palma quarter.

Who rents here, and what to know

People who want to swim in the morning and still live in Palma. The quarter is popular for longer stays because it is quieter than the centre without being remote.

Two things: front-row flats have the view and, in summer, the promenade's activity on the doorstep. And the airport approach runs across the bay — with an easterly wind you hear it. Neither is usually in the listing, so ask.
