Living in Ciutat Jardí
Ciutat Jardí lies east of Palma, right by the sea, combining a beachside setting with proximity to the city. The neighbourhood was developed from 1917 onwards following the model of the English garden-city movement. Today it is an established residential area with a well-kept promenade, a fine sandy beach and a relaxed atmosphere. What residents value most is being able to live right by the sea while still reaching the centre of Palma in just a few minutes.
Daily life and getting around
Ciutat Jardí is a 1920s garden suburb east of Es Molinar, with its own sandy beach and low-rise building. Shops, bakers and doctors are in the quarter; larger supermarkets are towards Coll d'en Rabassa.
The centre is around 20 minutes by bike on the seafront path, about the same by bus. The airport is five to ten minutes by car.
Who rents here, and what to know
Families and winterers who want a beach on the doorstep without living in the centre. Building is mostly terraced and detached houses, so there are more homes with a garden or terrace than elsewhere in Palma.
Two points: the airport approach is closer here than in Portixol, and with an easterly wind you hear it. And without a bike or a car the journeys into town are long — for a stay with no vehicle at all this is the wrong quarter.
