Bonanova sits on a hill between the Paseo Marítimo and Cala Major, just a few minutes from the centre of Palma. The neighbourhood owes its name to the sanctuary of the Mare de Déu de la Bonanova, which has stood here since the 17th century. It is characterised by quiet streets, plenty of greenery and several international schools. Bonanova is especially popular with families who want to live close to the city without giving up peace and privacy.
Daily life and getting around
Bonanova sits on the slope between the Paseo Marítimo and Cala Major. The quarter has supermarkets, pharmacies and several international schools; for everything else the centre is five to ten minutes by car.
Buses run to the centre and to Cala Major. Because of the slope, cycling is hard work and walking takes longer than the map suggests. A car makes sense here.
